Bugs and Drugs; Peach Cobbler Cook-off

One Book One Bakersfield offers the opportunity for diverse segments of the community to come together and discuss themes of popular interest, as revealed through literature.  The current selection, Epitaph for a Peach by David Mas Masumoto, focuses on methods of organic farming while maintaining high levels of agricultural production.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) – Bakersfield Branch is proud to collaborate with the University of California Cooperative Extension to present the following program in conjunction with One Book One Bakersfield:

Bugs and Drugs:

The Quest for Environmentally-Friendly Pest Management

Date:  Tuesday, February 21

Time:  7 – 8 p.m.

Location:  First United Methodist Church – Fellowship Hall

4600 Stockdale Highway, Bakersfield

Concurrently, a peach cobbler cook-off will be held on-site.  (Actually, any peach dessert is eligible – it need not be a cobbler.)  First, second, third and honorable mention prizes will be offered in student and adult categories.  Entries must be already baked and submitted on-site by 7:00 p.m.  Judging will occur during the program, with awards announced at the conclusion of the program.  For more information about the cook-off, call 393-2130 or visit www.aauwbakersfield.org.
